The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was a German single-seat, single-engine fighter aircraft operated by the Luftwaffe during WWII.
The Fw 190 was well liked by its pilots, some of which successful fighter aces who claimed many of their kills whilst piloting it & the aircraft was given the name Butcher Bird by the allies who first flew up against this superb machine that out performed the allied aircraft when initially introduced.

The Fw 190 along with the Bf 109 provided the back bone of the Luftwaffe's fighter aircraft but the Fw 190 was better armed with superior manoeuvrability at low to medium altitude & was regarded as one of the best fighter aircraft of WWII.

As heavy fighters with imposing firepower the Fw 190A-8 aircraft found themselves tasked with the protection of the Reich from allied bombers where they proved deadly, resulting in the need for allied fighter escorts such as the P-47 Thunderbolt & P-51 Mustang.
